This exceptional EMS VCS3 Mk2 was meticulously restored for a client by Constantin at Portabellabz.be — widely regarded as the best EMS technician in Europe. Unfortunately, the original owner is no longer able to keep it, and it is now offered at an incredible price considering the restoration work alone cost around €3,000.

The synth is provided with a CV/Gate converter, making it MIDI-compatible via any standard MIDI-to-CV converter.

A Unique Hybrid – Mk2 Internals with Mk1 Operation

Careful eyes will notice something unusual about the panel — and with good reason. When the VCS3 arrived for refurbishment, both the wooden cabinet and front panels were in poor condition and required complete restoration.

The panel is a modern EMS “third revision” — produced by EMS in the UK — featuring more useful, individual waveforms for Oscillators 1 and 2, a trait normally associated with Mk1 units. Internally, however, it is a genuine 1970s Mk2. The restored panel was refinished in Cornwall by Robin Wood himself, and the matrix was rewired for Mk1-style operation.
